35th Judicial District Court
Grant Parish

I want to thank the voters of Grant Parish who have given me the opportunity to serve the 35th Judicial District as Judge. The role of judge is a very important one which I will strive to undertake to the best of my ability. Like all trial courts in Louisiana, it is the mission of this Court to provide access to justice, to meet all responsibilities in a timely and expeditious manner, to provide equality, fairness and integrity in all proceedings, to maintain judicial independence and accountability, and to reach a fair and just result by adherence to the procedural and substantive law, thereby instilling trust and confidence in the public.

My staff and I are mindful that we are public servants. We strive to serve everyone equally, without prejudice, bias or favoritism. While we wish to serve everyone, there are limitations on activities judges can undertake. As a District Judge, I cannot offer legal advice. Furthermore, judges are generally prohibited from discussing legal proceedings with parties, attorneys or other interested persons outside of the courtroom. While I am interested in hearing what each party has to say, I cannot do so outside the presence of the other party(ies). Improper communication with me or my staff will likely result in me being recused from hearing the matter. Accordingly, please understand that when either I or my staff asks the purpose for your call or refuse to discuss pending legal matters with you, it is not because we do not care what you have to say. Rather, we are trying to maintain the fairness and integrity that each person expects from the Judge's office. I strongly encourage anyone that has an interest in a particular case to come to the hearings and participate in the proceeding.

I look forward to serving as your District Judge. I welcome your support and prayers as we daily face the challenges of the position.

Warren D. Willett

Judge, 35th Judicial District Court
